Jayne Scotson

Head of Business Development

Jayne Scotson became Head of Business Development in November 2019. Prior to this, Jayne was the service manager for the Cellular Pathology Department of Liverpool Clinical Laboratories since 2000.

She began working in NHS laboratories in 1985, with her first appointment as a junior biomedical laboratory scientific officer at the Liverpool Women’s Hospital.

Her background is based in Cellular Pathology, working in both the Histology and Cytology departments.

She became a fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences after passing the special examination in cellular pathology, resulting in a solid technical & practical knowledge of the science.

In 1993, Jayne moved to The Royal Liverpool University Hospital, progressing through varying grades and specialties within Cellular Pathology including Immunocytochemistry Laboratory Manager.  Her first experience of managing a mortuary came in 2000, when she took up her current position.  Proving her worth to a different staff group was a challenge and a great learning experience.

During her career, Jayne has been an assessor for UKNEQAS Cellular Pathology Technique scheme and a generic and specialist portfolio assessor for the IBMS.

Away from LCL, Jayne has engaged in a variety of interests over the years, ranging from trombone player in a local brass band to her most recent passion of equestrian sports.
