David Eccleston

Head of Modernising Scientific Careers

Dave Eccleston has been Head of Modernising Scientific Careers since 2013.

Dave began his pathology career within Histopathology at St Catherine’s Hospital in Birkenhead, subsequently moving to Walton Hospital, Fazakerley Hospital which later became Aintree Hospitals.

On commencement of the joint venture in 2013, Dave took up his current post at Liverpool Clinical Laboratories, based in the Duncan building near the Royal Liverpool hospital site.

Dave has been actively involved in education and professional development from the outset of his career both locally, regionally, and nationally, and continues to be involved with a number of universities and professional bodies.

The introduction and implementation of the Traineeship programme is an initiative that Dave has been recognised for through regional and national awards and commendations, as he strives to build relationships between LCL and the Merseyside community.

In addition to this, Dave has been an IBMS council member for many years, and regularly presents at the IBMS Congress in Birmingham.

Outside of LCL, Dave is an accomplished England qualified rugby union coach, winning the Cheshire Cup three times and the Lancashire and Cheshire first division twice.
