Anthony Carter

Service Manager, Haemato-oncology Diagnostic Service (HODS)

Anthony joined the organisation as a trainee Biomedical Scientist after graduating with a BSc in Biomedical Science in 1996. Within a year of qualifying as a band 6 Biomedical Scientist, he developed an interest in flow cytometry, and became a part of the team providing the regional Leukaemia Immunophenotyping service, eventually achieving the position of laboratory manager. In addition to this, he obtained a degree in IT to help support his role as IT lead for HODS.

Working closely with Professor Andre Pettit, Anthony developed the specification for the Haemato-Oncology Diagnostic Service, which has evolved from a virtual integrated laboratory split across several departments into a fully self-contained diagnostic unit working towards full UKAS accreditation as a stand-alone unit.

Anthony has a keen interest in sport, including football, cycling, boxing and kickboxing, and he is currently a season ticket holder at Liverpool FC. He is also a self-confessed petrol head and likes to change cars on a frequent basis.
